I work with adults challenged with mental health issues relating to depression, anxiety, anger, grief, trauma, chronic pain and more. I specialize in disordered eating from diagnosable eating disorders to non-defined challenges with eating (including Orthorexia - an unhealthy obsession with healthy eating and binge eating). I work individually with adults dealing with a wide variety of issues including depression, anxiety, anger, relationships, grief, sexuality, sexual assault, and workplace harassment, and chronic pain management (and anything in between). I have specialized in trauma therapy and am a certified EMDR therapist and trained in Somatic/Attachment therapy.
As a retired Kinesiologist, I am able to work confidently within a team of health care professionals in the area of chronic pain management and the psychological stressors of injury rehabilitation and the injured athlete.
There is a healing power to social connection and sharing experiences with others who share similar experiences. My groups offer a combination of education, sharing and support, and group therapy.

I will also be adding a chronic pain management group that will include psycho-education and strategies to help reduce and live with chronic pain. In addition, we will be examining the the bio-psychology of chronic pain. More information on dates and time will be coming in the new year of 2021.
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing
EMDR can be applied to a wide variety of challenges including; trauma and PTSD, grief, phobias, depression/anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain management, sports performance and business leadership (just to name a few).
Based upon bi-lateral stimulation through eye movements or tapping, EMDR "unlocks" the unprocessed memories stored in the brain and "processes" them so they no longer trigger negative emotions or symptoms related to PTSD.
Combining EMDR with positive psychology, it can also enhance self-confidence and a sense of mastery to increase athletic, business, and academic performance.
EMDR sessions can be 60 - 90 minutes in length and can be offered 1-2 times per week for a total of 6-12 sessions. If you are interested in learning more about EMDR, please refer to this YouTube Clip for more information.
Disordered Eating and Body Image
If you struggle with food restriction, binge eating, constant thoughts of food or shame related to food and body, you are not alone. Diet culture promotes these behaviours and tells us we are not okay or healthy unless we reach a particular size.
I have committed my career to the promotion of health at any size and to kicking diet culture's ass. I work with both disordered eating (i.e. orthorexia: an unhealthy obsession with healthy eating, compulsive dieting, weight cycling, and a general fear of foods) and eating disorders such as bulimia nervosa, binge/purge, and anorexia (within the context of an existing medical support team).
I also offer support for those learning to accept their body and move into a more intuitive approach to eating and movement. I take a collaborative approach to food and body care establishing relationships with nutritionists, physiotherapists, and other medical professionals who understand and practice the Health at Every Size (HAES) model and who offer safe and judgement free services.
From academic and athletic performance, business leadership, or kicking the fear of public speaking, I offer coaching/counselling services that will enhance overall human performance. I integrate both coaching, counselling strategies, and can apply EMDR protocols to help athletes and anyone else interested in strengthening performance based skills.
My background in kinesiology and sports psychology (combined with my own athletic experiences in sports) enables me to support those in team and individual sports work through performance anxiety, the depression that sometimes comes with athletic injury or retirement, and other pressures of competition including potential disordered eating and over exercise that sometimes shows up.
